It's not alnico. But, the 3127 is all Altec, plays nearly ruler flat from 70hz to ~3khz, is 97db sensitive, and are usually priced under the altec radar.

Beware of a pair currently being offered on ebay. Seller claims they are 3127, i believe they are actually 414-16E.
